Fairview Heights' Salute to the Arts was Aug 23 and 24. We had a ball with the kids that joined us to show off the skills they learned here at YCA. They also learned some huge lessons in Food Service. When they faced a line of approx 350 guest that were wanting to taste their wares. We made dip and served it live for over 90 minutes before the line slowed down. Check out Our Photos for some of the calmer moments of the weekend's activities.
Mark your calendar for September 5th at 6pm. Young Chefs Academy has teamed up with Good Housekeeping and Chef'n Kids to create a unique one time event. In keeping with the Back To School theme, Ready, Set Cook!, is a workshop designed to be a fun way to help kids find healthier alternatives for their lunches. There will be prizes, gift items, coupons, demonstrations of some great Chefn kitchen tools and some wonderfully tasty foods created. Space will be very limited. You won't want to miss this one. Registration NOW open on a first come, first served basis for this nationally advertised event. Summer Camp Review - Wow, Summer Camps are over. Over the course of 7 weeks, we had 98 Camper Days and these kids worked (and ate too). In 21 days of camps, these marvelous chefs created, sampled and savored 95 separate recipes. They partook of foods from all over the world, China, France, Russi
